Research

Exciting news! This summer, PNFF is launching a groundbreaking pilot study with the OHSU NICU on the effects of postpartum doula care for low-income families after short-term NICU stays. This first-of-its-kind study will address a significant gap in research. Stay tuned for updates in the coming months!

Policy

We’re working with awesome nonprofits like the Children’s Institute and Oregon Doula Association to make full spectrum doula care accessible to all in Oregon. Our goal? To get postpartum doula care covered by Medicaid and private insurance in the next 2-3 years.

Community Education/Connection

Our Annual Mother’s Day Event was a huge success! We collected tons of diapers and wipes, created a community zine on maternal health, and sent out letters to Oregon legislators urging them to prioritize maternal health in 2025.

See our blog post about the Momnibus Act.

We've also had the pleasure of meeting one-on-one with a dozen care providers and delivering several presentations to hospital staff, including social workers, doctors, and midwives. During these sessions, we introduced PNFF, highlighted the critical importance of doula services, and explained how they can refer patients to us. The response has been fantastic—many care providers are familiar with birth doulas but did not know what postpartum doulas do. Care providers have been incredibly supportive and eager to help families get the postpartum care they need once they understood the benefits.

We're excited to see what the next 6 months have in store!
